Stratego Battle Cards is a new way to play the classic game with cards. While retaining the basic “capture-the-flag” object of the game and the various point values of the different members of the armies to determine who wins in a given skirmish, the card game adds a few twists that make this a different and complementary game to the original. Designed for two players, each player plays as an army-red or blue. Shuffle your cards, and place them in front of you. Draw eight and place five face down in front of you. This is your “front line.” On each turn, a player turns over a card in his front line and taps one of his or her opponent’s face-down cards. The card with the highest point value wins the “battle.” The losing card is removed from the board and the winning card is turned over. The losing player puts down a card from his hand and draws another card from his deck. There are special features, such as the spy with a one point count that can take out a Field Marshal with 10 but no other card, or you can use the spy to peek at your opponent’s cards. There are bombs that blow up attackers but can be defeated by miners and so forth. Play continues with the front line being replenished until you capture your enemy’s flag or you can’t make an attack on your turn. When you’re done playing, the cards pack up in the case for easy storage.
