A playthrough of Tradewest’s 1993 Super NES 3D off-road racing game, Super Off Road: The Baja.
Played through on the Intermediate difficulty level. This really is a pretty impressive looking game when you consider that it relied on the stock SNES hardware to generate its graphics.
The game is alright, but it’s pretty short and it can get irritating that half the time the 3D effects make it virtually impossible to tell which way the road will turn when you get over a hill. On the plus side, there’s little else like a digitzed voice screaming “Arriba!” at you every time you go over a hill while using the nitro boost. Or smashing a cow, being penalized for $10k, and hearing it scream like a person as its chunks run across your windscreen.
It’s a poor showing for a game that was meant to be the sequel to Super Off-Road, though that doesn’t necessarily make it a bad game. It’s just surprisingly mediocre.
And to those that find the controls impossibly twitchy – good luck if you’re trying to play using the D-pad. The sooner you get used to steering with the L and R buttons, the sooner you will stop crashing and coming in last place 😀

Arriba!!!!
It if you hit anyone you will lose 3k cash
This game is classic..
Played this at my grandmas as a child so nostalgic
never see this title at that time. the graphic near PS1 early era. Is this game used Super FX Chip?
It's like F zero no matter how fast you go the cpu is always right behind u eating your ass for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, without having to worry about running into other objects. Kinda like the government, it cheats.
And that's how to abusing SNES cpu back then
I was hoping you would run all the motorbike people and pedestrians over
USE TO RUN EVERYBODY'S ASS OVER
ANIMALS TOO
YEAH
Arribaaaaa!
0:38 wow, is that Charles Martinet? lol
Without nitro you are nobody
Nitro “ARRIBAAAA!”
Picks up money “Yeah” 😂
Runs over pedestrian “AAAHHH!”
I find it pretty hilarious whenever you pick up money or nitros in the game. You would think that appropriate sound effects would occur when you get them, but nope, all you hear is "yeah", which makes it very funny.
Don't mind this snes game, my brother hates it, sure it's a spinoff of super off road, but it's some rad mode 7, with some pseudo 3d sprites, and that cash deduction from hitting quad riders, deer or spectators
1:36 Oh my god this reminds me of my cousins house!!!! And when I first heard ariba, I was like "use the cherry bomb!"
Yeaaaa😴
Huh… this is pretty impressive for the SNES. Could even pass for an early N64/PS1 game. Too bad the soundtrack isn't as good as the first game.
Loved this game memories
Looks like such a step back from the previous ones…
This game had a lot of haters but I loved it.
Back when i was a kid, i only played this game to run over the 4 wheeler dudes and the pedestrians. I love that scream!!!
Haaagghh!! 🤕💀
When they put Ivan's truck in forza horizon 4, I recognized it before any mf
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I FINNALLLLYY FOUND ITTT. IM SOOOO HAPPY. i have been looking every where. This was my childhood. I loved this game, earthworm jim, legend of zelda link to the past and soook many more i cant think kf the name anymkre. Im soo happy i found this.
I’ve been looking for this game for years! I played this when I was like 4 years old and for the life of me couldn’t remember the name.
Nostalgia!!!
Got this one, for some reason thought it was the arcade port, but nope. Can't say this is one of my prouder purchases, because it isn't, arriba!
yEh
Yeahhhh viendolo en el 2018 yo lo jugue para el 1998 hace 20 años jaaaaa ARRIBAAA…
This is the PS3 version?
Que recuerdos
proof the snes could have made an awesome road rash game
So, if you kill someone in Baja its only 3K$ penalty?
25:38 man that damage gauge was full by the time you got to the finish line.
When he says “Ya” sounds like Hank Hill
23:39
😂😂😂
was this recorded on the original hardware? i swear the game never looked this good.
This is impressive. I had no idea the SNES was capable of Mode 7 with anything other than flat surfaces. Did this game have an additional processor built into the cartridge to accomplish this? I would have expected to see something like this on a 3DO or an early PS1 game, but certainly not the SNES. Way cool.
jaja i live in la paz..
is this game racing or fighting? that another red car its fucking annoying!
One of the very few SNES-era games I actually managed to beat.
I thought for sure you was gonna lose on leg 5 with all that damage .. always used to lose during that part back in the day. YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE PAST THE HILLS MAN!
The best thing is when u run over pedestrians or the moto guys x'D it is just funny as hell
This is my childhood man ;), ARRIBA!!!
ARIBAAAA!!!!
Is it me, or does the guy at each intermission look like John Madden?
my brother and I used to play the shit out of this game, still have it too
